Beginning May 7, 2025, Oklahoma residents must possess a REAL ID-compliant license to board domestic flights and access certain federal facilities.
In order to obtain a REAL ID, you must provide the following:
- Proof of Identity, such as an unexpired U.S. Passport or U.S. Passport Card or a Birth Certificate
- Proof of Name, such as a Social Security Card, W-2, or a paystub
- Proof of Social Security Number, such as a Social Security Card, W-2, or a paystub
- Proof of Address (two documents required), such as utility bill, property deed, first class mail, or an unexpired license
With these documents in hand, you should have no problem obtaining a REAL ID in Oklahoma. However, if the name on your Proof of Identity and Proof of Name documentation don't match, due to marriage, divorce, adoption, or some other reason, you must provide additional proof of your name, such as a certified copy of your divorce decree or marriage license. Sometimes obtaining a certified copy of these documents can be time-consuming, or even impossible.Â
The good news is, with a simple name change, you can obtain a court order reflecting, once and for all, your current name, while also satisfying the requirements for a REAL ID.
